Race For the Cure

Elder Nickel's Letter from April 6th
Once again, I am just sending the meaty part of Taylor's letter. The rest is just a question/answer period. Kirk's family grew up with the Nash's. Taylor must not have known that. Love you guys. Teri
For our devotional on tuesday we had marcus b. nash of the quorum of the seventy come and speak. a few points i liked from his talk were that we as missionaries should treasure this time, because it will go by fast. also i like when he said that we have this church to enable the children to enter the highest level/degree we can obtain (celestial kingdom). it just made me realize that some of these people i teach and end up getting baptized will make it to the celestial kingdom. it is neat to think that i will see them there and it will be a great reunion! In the TRC, we taught a pretend investigator the second lesson. he was a native spanish speaker. he said that he could understand our spanish and that we had great spanish dialect. it made me more confident in myself with learning the language and also made me realize that the gift of tongues is real. it's crazy to think of how much i have learned in three weeks here. i have learned more here already than i did in my 2 years of french. in the TEC, we taught a lesson, and the lady gave us feedback. she basically chastized us and said she didnt feel anything and that we were just teaching a lesson. she had us give a 5 minute overview of the atonement without any notes. we gave a big testimony and i could definetely feel a difference. it was so powerful and all of us felt the spirit. i hope i can have that same power when it comes to teaching the people in minesota! On fast sunday it snowed here. we went to the temple to take some pictures. it was beautiful! anyways, i love you all! have a wonderful week. i will end with a thought. Ninguna prueba es imposible. No trial is impossible. You can overcome any difficulties you might come across in your life with the help of the Lord. have faith!

Family
Well I don't even know how to start off the emails anymore, I guess for this time happy General Conference, ha ha. It is always good to hear from all of you every week, but the weeks are so short it doesn't seem like you guys really do anything over there. It good to hear from a brother again, Jason I did not get the other email, but I have to say Congratulations on the second baby on the way, all I have to say is it's about time. When will he or she be born, before or after I get home? You can also tell Emri that I pray for her every night too. I also use her name every day here because I mean, Emri does mean name in Albanian. Well I am glad that your trip was a success, up in Utah this time. Sounds like fun but still nothing beats The Stove breakfast Saturday morning. Well nothing to really respond to so I will just go into my week as a missionary. This week was a pretty good week. Nothing really special happened but there were a couple of things that were good, as always. First of all Albania is growing still, on Saturday there was a groundbreaking ceremony for a church in Elbasan. We didn't get to go and I have never been to Elbasan, but the building process has begun, and the church is growing, because it is true. We are still trying to get land in Tirana for a church, but since it is the capital city it is a little harder. This week as far as missionary work goes was alright. I went on exchanges with a member of my district like I am suppose to do and it was great. 2nd Branch had an activity and we had some investigators come so that was good. I was with Elder Borup who will be going home next week. 7 missionaries leave next week but we get 13 so we are going to be opening a couple of areas, not cities but areas
in the cities we have. We might be putting another set of Elders in Lushnje where I was before with only 2 missionaries. I told President to send me back there if it did get opened, so we will see. I have 2 stories about some investigators that we have. The first one is this kid that has been going to the English course and institute and stuff. We found out he lived in our area so we went to meet him. Apparently I had met him on the street awhile back and just told him to come to the English course and that we have like Ping-pong and stuff and he just showed up one day. Those are the people that I would have never thought of having an effect, because there are a lot of people that don't really seem interested but I tell them to come anyways. And now I see that it has an effect. It wa really cool to see, and now we are starting to meet with him, he has brought a friend and they are both reading the Book of Mormon already and come to institute and stuff. It is really great so we will see what happens to them in the future. The second story I have is about our only progressing investigator. We have not met him that much but he is really good. He has read a lot in the Book of Mormon and has come to church once. We met him this week and he brought his wife, which we have never seen before and she told us that she was also reading the Book of Mormon and was interested so that is why she came to meet us. I was really excited to hear this of course and am really excited to see what happens, because our last meeting with him we actually committed him to baptism even though we haven't met him that much, and he said that he will have to think about it. Hopefully we will get an answer this week and really start helping him progress and feel the spirit and realize it is what he should do. That meeting was the highlight of my week this week. Other then that I don't have anything to tell you for now. As for the spiritual thought I don't remember but I might have told you this last week, but it will be said again. I was reading in the New Era and read this story about a kid who always wanted to be a Professional Soccer player and worked hard his whole life for it. He never got anything so he decided he better go on a mission. The day his call came and he was opening it, his agent called and said he got an offer for him. He looked at his call and said to his agent that he already got a better offer and he will serve a mission. He realized that his dream would not wait for 2 years but he knew he made the better decision. He went into his room and cried to the Lord and then heard a voice that said "son you are already on the best team." When I read this it really struck me and I know that we are on the best team. All of us are part of the best team and we need to take advantage of it. Anything that we sacrifice for the church is the better choice because it is the better team. Everything should go behind what God wants us to do. I can testify to you that we are on the best team and it is one lucky thing because I look at these people and they don't even know. I ask that all of you put behind the things that don't matter to do something better in your calling or whatever and then you will always have time after. I love you all, and you are all great.

Taylor's First Letter from the MTC
This is just a portion of Taylor's letter. The rest was specific to each of us at home and/or answering questions. I figured that part would be of no interest to you. He seems to be doing really well and mom is doing MUCH better. : ) We love you all. Ter
"As for me, i am doin well here at the mtc. i really like the devotionals with the general authorities. the language is coming along fairly well i guess. i am able to pray, testify, and say some phrases and words. so it's coming along. i have seen a bunch of people from school here. i saw brandon huckstep, devan anderson, chad thompson, and ashton beagley. i haven't seen kurt vanwagenen yet. esta bien. ya, this week i actually got to participate in a blessing for one of our hermanas. Hma. Bohne was sick and we found out that she might have to have surgery to remove a cist in her leg! it was really neat, and i felt that everything was goin to be alright and work out for her! i have a cool story to. babe ruth was in a game and it was the bottom of the 9th. there were 2 outs and the yanks were down by 2 with 2 on base. babe got down in the count 0-2. the next pitch
he hit a game winning homerun. after the game a reporter asked how babe felt after he failed the first two swings. babe said, "those first two strikes weren't failure...they were effort toward success!" think about this and how you can apply it to your lives. i love you all and pray for u everyday! can't wait to hear from you all!"
