Here she is talking to me on Skype tonight. She is doing well, having the best experience of her life, and hopes she doesn't freeze in the Appalachians. If it's too cold, she says they may hitch a ride to the other side. When I asked her when she'll be home, she says she's still not sure but she knows she has to be home before Christmas, or else she'll be disowned! Not quite, but of course we can't wait to see her. She got to say hi to Kels and hear her new words and what not. It was good to see/talk to her. Keep praying for her - for her safety and general well-being. We miss you Ju-ju! To Aubrey...The BRUNETTE Cousin
Aubrey always points out to me that she's a brunette in a family of blondes - and though she likes her dark hair - I have to razz her back for all the razzing she gives me/us about being blonde. My friend Mary wrote this poem and I thought I would share it with all of you. And especially Aubrey.
“It’s fall,” moaned Brunette, with a tear on her cheek,
As she walked with her blonde friend one day.
“Dear Brunette,” said the blonde, with surprise in her voice,
“What on earth makes you speak in this way?”
“It’s the WORST!” sobbed Brunette, with a stamp of her foot.
“I can’t stand such a season at all!
Autumn is dreary; there’s nothing to do.
There is just nothing good about fall.”
“Nothing good?” echoed Blonde, with an intake of breath,
“How completely mistaken you are!
Fall’s such a glorious, beautiful time—
The very best season, by far!
“Come with me,” pleaded Blonde, “Let me open your eyes
To the wonders which fall holds for you.
I think you’ll agree, in a very short time,
That there’s ample to love and to do!”
“Look right here,” pointed Blonde to a fiery tree
With leaves shining crimson and gold.
“What’s to see?” mourned Brunette, with a shake of her head.
“That tree looks dejected and old.”
The blonde was undaunted at such a response
And held up her hand to her ear.
“Just listen, Brunette, to that magical wind.
Its whispers are music to hear!”
“The wind is a pest,” scoffed the brown-headed one.
“It’s blowing these leaves in my face.
I do NOT like the wind. It is noisy and cold,
And it’s blowing my hair out of place.”
“But come,” said the blonde, “It’s a season for joy!
For cozy warm sweaters and treats!”
“Oh Blonde,” snapped Brunette, “Don’t you dare mention ‘warm,’
While we walk along cold windy streets!”
And so they went on, in this fall afternoon,
A most unconventional pair.
The brunette trudged along with a scowl on her face,
And the blonde nearly floated on air.
Each blessing of fall that the blonde pointed out,
With elation and joy in her eyes,
Was rejected in turn by the grumpy brunette
Who was stuck in the mood to despise.
The pumpkins, the candy, the costumes, the colors,
The fallen leaves raked in a pile…
Nothing could tempt Brunette out of her gloom,
And nothing could merit a smile.
So kind, concerned Blonde started thinking and thinking,
“Perhaps this reaction is due
To poor Brunette’s follicles being so dark…
That ugly, unfortunate hue!”
Blonde’s heart gave a pang, for she felt it unfair
That her friend had to suffer this way.
It wasn’t humane for a lovely young girl
To have muddy-brown hair every day!
This noble young blonde put her arm ‘round Brunette,
And steered her into a salon.
“Brunette, we must get you professional help,
Before you are hopelessly gone.”
“Oh no,” breathed the stylist, with furrowing brows.
Consternation was etched on her face.
“Bring her right in here and have her sit down.
I can see it’s a serious case.”
The stylist was deft, and her work was soon done.
The brunette slowly rose from her chair,
Filled with a mixture of wonder and joy,
With highlights- yes, blonde!- in her hair.
Her heart was so full, so enraptured, so glad.
Her eyes sprinkled tears on the floor.
Her lips uttered praises and thanks to the blonde.
She practically danced to the door.
Brunette rushed to greet all that great golden fall,
Splendors galore there to meet.
With hair now infused with the colors of heaven,
The world was appealing and sweet.
“Oh fall! I love fall!” cried Brunette with a sigh,
As she walked home with Blonde, arm in arm.
“Now that my hair isn’t horrid and dark,
I can see that this season has charm!”
“Yes, Brunette,” said her friend, “You are seeing the light.
Your life will be better each day.
You’ll find each new season to be sweet and good,
Without your brown hair in the way!”
The two girls went on, in the glorious fall,
Crunching through leaves with their feet,
Just loving this season and knowing the truth:
That being a blonde can’t be beat!
LOVE YOU SHELLY! HOPE YOU'RE HAVING FUN IN ALBANIA, MONTE NEGRO?, & PARIS!! Can't wait to see you Joshie!

Hanging Out with the Stars
I thought this was pretty cool. My dad was invited to a July 4th party on Malibu Beach at Wildman's and took pictures with Chris Chelios of the NHL's Detroit Red Wings. Here he is with Chris and the Stanley Cup.

He said at one point in the party, he was sitting down waiting to talk to Chris and he thought that the guy next to him had a familiar voice. He looked and Tom Hanks was sitting next to him! My dad, hanging out at Hollywood parties.

To the Californian Family Members...

IMMEDIATE ACTION NEEDED!!!
Stop Anti-Family Legislation
While we are all focused on protecting marriage and busy working on the passage of Proposition 8, our State Legislators have quietly passed more homosexual legislation.
This legislation is focused at indoctrinating our children.
"This bill would require the Governor to proclaim May 22 of each
year as Harvey Milk Day, and would designate that date as having
special significance in public schools and educational institutions and
would encourage those entities to conduct suitable commemorative
exercises on that date. "..... text of AB 2567
As the first openly gay City Supervisor of San Francisco, Harvey Milk encouraged gay right's activism. He was killed in 1978.
AB 2567 is now sitting on Governor Schwarzenegger's desk waiting for his signature. We need you to voice your opinion and tell the Governor not to sign this bill. It is important that you call today.
What you can do

Hey fam, I don't know if you all know this yet, but I am riding my bicycle across the U.S. with a couple of friends. We are taking a rest day in Chico, Ca right now. We hope to be in Oregon in the next 4 days. Everything is going well, we are carrying a lot of weight and are averaging 60 miles a day. We have already covered about 280 miles, and we have had many friends give us a place to stay! Just wanted to give you all a little update, I hope all is well.
